The Hands of Poker: All poker games have this one
thing in common!
Royal Flush - the best possible hand Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10, all
of the same suit.
Straight Flush Any five-card sequence
in the same suit (ex: 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 of diamonds; or 7, 8, 9, 10 and Jack
of spades).
Four of a Kind All four cards of the same
value (ex: 8, 8, 8, 8; or Queen, Queen, Queen, Queen).
Full House
Three of a kind combined with a pair (ex: 10, 10, 10 with 6, 6; or King, King,
King with 5, 5).
Flush Any five cards of the same
suit, but not in sequence (ex: 2, 5, 6, Jack and King of hearts).
Straight
Five cards in sequence, but not in the same suit (ex: 4 of spades, 5 of clubs,
6 of hearts, 7 of clubs and 8 of hearts).
(special case) The Ace can either
be high or low, for example: A,2,3,4,5 is an Ace Low Straight and 10,J,Q,K,A
is an Ace High Straight
Three of a Kind Three cards
of the same value (ex: A, A, A; or 5, 5, 5).
Two Pair
Two separate pairs (ex: 4, 4, Jack, Jack).
Pair
Two cards of the same value (ex: 9, 9).
High Card
If a hand contains none of the above combinations, it's valued by the highest
card in it.
