Moving Pieces: Click on the piece you want to move and drag it to the empty square that you want it to go. You may only move diagonally.

Jumping Pieces: Click on the piece you want to move and drag it over the opponent's piece and drop it in the empty square on the other side of the opponent's piece.

Jumping Multiple Pieces: To do multiple jumps simply drag your piece to the final square of the move. MindViz Checkers will highlight the squares (path) if it is a valid move.

Basic Rules of Checkers:

1. Checkers is played by two players, one with red pieces and the other with black pieces.

2. The board consists of 64 squares, alternating between 32 dark and 32 light squares.

3. The board is setup so that each player's pieces are positioned on the dark squares at the opposing ends of the board.

4. In MindViz Checkers the Player that makes the largest bet will go first.

5. Moves are allowed only on the dark squares, so pieces always move diagonally.

6. A piece making a non-capturing move (not involving a jump) may move only one square.

7. A piece making a capturing move (a jump) leaps over one of the opponent's pieces, landing in a straight diagonal line on the other side. Although only one piece may be captured in a single jump, multiple jumps are allowed on a single turn. In order to make jumps in MindViz Checkers (or multiply jumps) simply click on the piece you want to move and drag it to the final square.

8. When a piece is captured, it is removed from the board and will show up in the player's capture bin.

9. When a piece reaches the furthest row on the opposing side from wher they started, the player's piece is crowned and becomes a king.

10. Kings are limited to moving diagonally, but may move both forward and backward. Single pieces are always limited to forward moves.

11. Kings may combine jumps in several directions -- forward and backward -- on the same turn. Single pieces may shift direction diagonally during a multiple capture turn, but must always jump forward (toward the opponent).

12. A player wins the game when the opponent cannot make a move. In most cases, this is because all of the opponent's pieces have been captured, but it could also be because all of the pieces are blocked in.
